What this tool does
The Passport Photo Maker takes one ordinary photograph and turns it into a print-ready sheet. It separates the subject from whatever was behind them, drops in a regulation background colour, frames the face to the proportions a passport office expects, and tiles as many copies as will fit onto the paper size you print on. The whole run is a single pass, which is the point when there is a queue at the counter.
How to use it
- Drop the customer photo onto the upload panel, or click to browse.
- Wait for the cut-out. The first photo of the session downloads the AI model, so it takes a little longer than the ones after it.
- Pick the document size - India passport 35 x 45 mm, PAN 25 x 35 mm, US 51 x 51 mm and the other common formats are preset, and there is a custom option for anything else.
- Choose the background colour. White, light blue, blue, grey and red are one click, and the colour picker handles the rest.
- Check the framing. The face is positioned automatically; the zoom and offset sliders are there when a photo needs a nudge.
- Set the sheet size and how many copies you want, then print or download.
Sizes and sheets
Photo sizes are held in millimetres and rendered at 300 or 600 DPI, so a 35 x 45 mm photo really measures 35 x 45 mm when it comes off the printer. Sheet presets cover 3R, 4R, 5R, A5 and A4. The tool works out how many photos fit, centres the block on the page and leaves a 2 mm gap between each one for the cutter.
Background colour
Background removal runs on a portrait matting model that keeps hair edges intact rather than cutting a hard outline around the head. Once the subject is separated the background is a flat fill, so you can switch between white and light blue without reprocessing the photo. If the original background is already correct, tick Keep original and the tool skips the replacement.
Framing
Face detection places the head so it occupies roughly 62 per cent of the frame height with the eyes a little above centre, which is the convention most passport and visa offices work to. If no face is found the tool falls back to reading the cut-out silhouette and framing from the crown. Either way the sliders let you correct it by eye before printing.
Your files stay on the counter machine
Every step - the cut-out, the framing, the sheet layout - happens inside the browser on your own computer. The photograph is never uploaded to a server, which matters when you are handling other people's documents. The AI model itself is fetched once from a public CDN and then cached by the browser.
Printing tips
Print at actual size with any scaling or fit-to-page option switched off, otherwise the millimetres will not survive the trip to the paper. Glossy photo paper at 300 DPI is enough for every document size here; 600 DPI is available for stamp-size photos where the detail is small. Leave the cut guides on until you are confident with the trim.
